And for sale in Philippines Subic Bay, Australia, Hong Kong, and other SE Asia Active Vietnam GI's R&R Markets.
By the 1980, with the US reducing their presence in SE Asia, Subic Bay, once one of the largest Navel bases in the world, was given back to the Philippines, and with US assistance, a large portion was turned into a Free Trade Zone for the Philippines.
Timex, who profited handsomely on watches assembled in the Philippines, created a subsidiary named "TMX Philippines" specifically for watch manufacturing in this new Philippines Mactan Export Processing Zone or FREE TRADE ZONE.
Today, Timex, which was an American company, is controlled by the Norwegian Fred. Olsen family through the Lichtenstein-based trust Ptarmigan Trust, the brothers Fred. and Petter Olsen and other members of their family own the giant corporation, which is the largest seller of wristwatches in the USA.
