WE PICKED THESE ITEMS UP FROM OUR PATRON WHOSE HUSBAND PASSED AWAY. THE SAME PERSON WHOSE FATHER WAS A WWII MILITARY PHOTOGRAPHER, THE SAME PATRON WHO PROVIDED THE NEGATIVES FOR MOST OF THE PHOTOGRAPHS THAT WE ARE OFFERING IN OUR MOST OUTSTANDING OFFERS.
TAKE A LOOK AT THE JAPANESE, AIR CORPS AND MEDIC MILITARY WATCH BOXES CONTAINING SOME OF THESE WWII PHOTOGRAPHS.
THE PATRONS HUSBAND WHO PASSED AWAY, WAS AS CONNECTED AS HIS FATHER. HE TRAVELED THE GLOBE TAKING PICTURES OF JUST ABOUT EVERY EVENT, PERSON AND SCENE ONE COULD IMAGINE.
THE STOP WATCH AND THESE TWO PHOTOS IN THIS OFFER WERE STORED IN THE SAME BOX.
WHAT MAKES THIS TIMER AN AWESOME COLLECTIBLE IS THE FACT IT HAD - AND STILL HAS - A MEDALLION ON THE CASE BACK DEPICTING ROCKETS, SATELITES AND THE MOON.
IN ADDITION, THIS WATCH WAS NAMED APOLLO FOR THE APOLLO SPACE PROGRAM IN 1973.
IN FACT, THE MANUFACTURER APPLIED AND RECEIVE A TRADEMARK WITH THE INTENTION OF INCREASE SALES BY NAMING A LINE OF STOP/TIMING WATCHES "APOLLO" [LIKE ROLEX DID WITH "MARCONI" WHEN MARCONI WON THE NOBEL PRIZE].
THIS BABY IS ONE OF THE VERY FIRST AND SEEMS TO HAVE BEN GIVEN TO AN EMPLOYEE OF THE NASA APOLLO PROGRAM. TAKE A LOOK AT THE INTERIOR. IT HAS A SCREW DOWN INTERIOR DUST SHIELD WITH A SPORTS FIGURE ETCHED ON IT. THIS IS THE FIRST APOLLO WE HAVE COME ACROSS THAT HAD THIS INTERIOR INNER SCREW DOWN DUST SHIELD.

notice it is a 30 second timer
USE OF STOP WATCHES DURING THE APOLLO SPACE PROGRAM
Apollo astronauts WHEE KNOW TO HAVE TAKEN a specially made Bulova stopwatch to the moon to utilize while inside the Command Modules and the Lunar Modules.
Stop watches were used to time the duration of the Descent Orbit Insertion maneuver and to time the rendezvous maneuvers after launch from the lunar surface.
The DOI maneuver had to be terminated within 0.3 seconds of the planned 24.5 seconds to ensure that the spacecraft would not impact the moon.
Timers could also be used with the rendezvous back-up charts to ensure the LM could join the CSM in lunar orbit after the crew launched from the lunar surface.
Though Bulova and Omega Stop watches were utilized, many others were utilized on the ground through out the APOLLO space program.

The Apollo program ran from 1961 until 1975, and was the United States spaceflight effort which would land Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on Earth's Moon during the 11th ApoLlo mission in 1969. 5 more missions to the moon would occur with the last the last mission, Apollo 17, in December of 1972. In these six Apollo spaceflights, 12 men walked on the Moon. .Apollo spacecraft and Saturn launch vehicles -also used for the Skylab program in 197374, and a joint U.S.Soviet mission in 1975 - are also considered part of the Apollo program.

The trade mark was applied for on May 16, 1973, 5 months after Apollo 17. The company wanted to cash in on the Apollo name. As I stated above, so did Rolex with the MARCONI name.

Eugene Francis "Gene" Kranz
Eugene Francis "Gene" Kranz (born August 17, 1933) is a retired NASA Flight Director and manager. Kranz served as a Flight Director, the successor to NASA founding Flight Director Chris Kraft, during the Gemini and Apollo programs, and is best known for his role in directing the successful Mission Control team efforts to save the crew of Apollo 13, which later became the subject story of a major motion picture of the same name. He is also noted for his trademark close-cut flattop hairstyle, and the wearing of dapper white "mission" vests (waistcoats), of different styles and materials made by Mrs. Kranz, during missions for which he acted as Flight Director. A personal friend to the American astronauts of his time, Kranz remains a prominent and colorful figure in the history of U.S. manned space exploration, literally, the embodiment of 'NASA tough-and-competent' of the Kranz Dictum. Kranz has been the subject of movies, documentary films, and books and periodical articles. Kranz is the recipient of a Presidential Medal of Freedom. In a 2010 Space Foundation survey, Kranz was ranked as the #2 most popular space hero.
