......and in FACT, the same place where Martin Luther., while hiding out from anti-Protestant forces, in the imposing -- and still existing -- Wartburg Castle, under an assumed identify of Knight George, "....threw then inkpot at the devil and translated the Bible into German"...
.....the German company Dugena was established as a branch of the Swiss brand Alpina; DUGENA was chosen as an acronym of Deutsche Uhrmacher-Genossenschaft Alpina [ German Watchmaker Association Alpina].
Within a few years Dugena became a brand of its own.
In 1927, the Dugena moved their factories to Berlin to manufacture quality watches.

Alpina Gruen Gilde SA was formed -- it has been stated that Rolex was involved in this organization and the "Doctors Watch" , made by the Rolex factory Aegler, was sold under the brands Alpina, Gruen, Alpina-Gruen and Rolex-Prince.
During this same period, in the 1930s, Dugena was on the verge of liquidation due to the after effects of W.W.I and the depression.
Following W.W.II, with the Dugena headquarters in the eastern part of occupied Berlin [ Soviet Union]. sales to the West became difficult at the least.
