THE MAIN FEATURE IS THAT A FULL REVOLUTION IS ONLY 10 SECONDS.
MOST WERE ELGINS
THIS IS A RARE WWII WALTHAM A-8 WITH WALTHAM CALIBER.
THE A-8 "JITTERBUG" NAVIGATION TIMER IS A 10 SECOND STOP WATCH UTILIZED BY NAVIGATION CREWS TO SET GROUND SPEED TO DETERMINE THE ****AIR SPEED OF EVERY BOMBER [AND MANY OTHER AIRPLANE CREWS] THAT SERVED IN THE VARIOUS ALLIED FORCES DURING WWII.
THIS WALTHAM VERSION OF THE A-8 HAS SIMILAR
TO THE ELGIN BLACK DIAL WITH WHITE HANDS
THIS WAS A REQUIREMENT
FOR THE USAA DESIGNATED A-8 NAVIGATION TIMER.
THE YEAR IS NOTED AS 1943. IS IS A SIZE 16 AND HAS
[TIMERS AVERAGED 7 JEWELS DUE TO FACT IS DID NOT OPERATE
CONTINUALLY AND THEREFOR DID NOT REQUIRE ,MORE
NOTE THE SMALL BALANCE WHEEL. THOUGH THIS
A-8 ALSO CHATTERED LIKE A JITTERBUG, THE BALANCE WHEEL
WAS SLIGHTLY LARGER AND THEREFOR DID NOT MAKE THE
SAME NOISE AS THE ELGIN.
ALSO NOTE 9 JEWELS INSTEAD OF THE NORMAL 7 JEWELS
THE CASE IS COMPOSED OF BASE METAL WITH NICKEL PLATE
SIGNED LIKE THE ELGIN, ALL MILITARY WATCHES WHOSE
SPECS WERE IMPLEMENTED BY THE US MILITARY HAD TO
BE SIGNED THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT ALL GOV DESIGNED
AND ISSUED WATCHES HAD THE INFO ON THEM, BUT 80% DID.

CASE BACK WAS PRESS-ON THE OUTER CASE BACK AND
