I HAVE READ THE HISTORY AT BOTH THE SWATCH "ZODIAC SITE" AND WIKIPEDIA.

BOTH ARE WRONG AS TO DATES. IT SEEMS THAT THE "NEW" SWATCH GROUP SITE  HAS SHAVED DECADES OFF THEIR TIMELINES AND ADDED PREFERRED FICTION.

THE WIKIPEDIA WRITE UP IS PURE AMATEUR HOUR.

Ariste Calame (1839-1917) set up a workshop in 1864 in Cret-Vaillant The Company that followed was founded in 1882 by Ariste Calame. The original name of the company was

Ariste Calame. It was a small workshop.Though the name Zodiac was used , it was not registered until 1908. In 1920 the company was listed as Ariste Calame fils . See ad below . By 1923 it was listed as Ariste Calame: Montres Zodiac. The next year, Eisenstadt Mfg. CO.of, St. Louis began importing Zodiac watches.

1924: Zodiac introduces super  pocket watches

1930: Zodiac introduces a spring-based anti-shock system, and creates Harwood bumper based automatic watches

In 1950 Zodiac introduces

the Autographic,
"Famous for Reserve Power Gauge & amazing rotor action, automatic" was introduced and became  THE STABLE OF PROFITS.

The Hermetic
The Corsair
The Power Reserve

In the sixties Zodiac introduced

THE ABOVE ADVERT INFORMS IT'S READERS TO VISIT THE ZODIAC EXHIBITION IN THE SWISS WATCH PAVILION AT THE NEW YORK WORLDS FAIR. THIS WAS 1964, IN FLUSHING QUEENS NY.   I WAS THERE AND VISITED THE PAVILION. IT WAS FREE. IF YOU READ MY BOOK, YOU WOULD READ HOW WE WENT TO 14 FREE EXHIBITS THE WATCH PAVILION, GENERAL ELECTRIC AND THE IBM EXHIBITS WERE THE BEST AND THE AMPHIBIAN CAR THAT WENT INTO WATER MADE IT A GREAT EXPERIENCE; ESPECIALLY FOR MY BROTHER WHO WAS 7 AND I , AT 11, WERE JUST KIDS BEGINNING A JOURNEY ["RUNNING AWAY"].

The Sea Wolf
[THE ZODIAC SEA WOLF WAS FIRST INTRODUCED AT THE 1964 WORLDS FAIR.    THE FIRST DIVE WATCHES INTRODUCED TO THE WORLD IN 1954 WERE THE BLANCPAIN AND THE ROLEX SUBMARINER WITH MINERAL GLASS CRYSTALS . THE US GOV CONTRACTED WITH BULOVA FOR A DIVE WITH PLEXIGLAS CRYSTAL AND A 350 FOOT CAPABILITY  IN LATE 1950-1963.]

The GMT
The Datographic
The Olympos

1972 Zodiac introduced the SST Astographic which had two revolving satellites instead of hands and a red moon indicated the time. "Split Second Timing" was abbreviated as SST meant With  an automatic movement with calendar, and shock and water-resist, it was touted as  "Americans best selling underwater watch".

1974 ZODIAC introduced the Super Sea Wolf pressurized to 2500 feet and a bezel for elapsed time read-outs.

1974 ZODIAC introduced an LCD and slim wrist self wind.watches in yellow gold,.
