 Kintaro Hattori

FROM 1874 TO 1917,  JAPAN HAD SHED HER ANCIENT OUT-DATED WAYS AND MOVED WITH UNEXPECTED FORCE INTO THE MODERN WORLD. JAPAN  HAD BECOME A BUILDER OF HER OWN ARMAMENTS, SHIPS, PLANES AND HAD EVEN  IMPROVED UPON THE ADVANCEMENTS OF THE MODERNIZED WORLD.

IN FACT, AFTER THE 1904-05 ANNIHILATION OF TWO VAUNTED AND POWERFUL RUSSIAN FLEETS, AS WELL AS THE DEFEAT OF ONE OF THE LARGEST RUSSIAN LAND ARMIES , SHE HAD BECOME A WELCOME TREATY PARTNER OF THE USA, BRITAIN AND THE WORLD AT LARGE.

BY 1917,  DAINI SEIKOSHA HAD ALREADY INVITED SWISS AND AMERICAN WATCH COMPANIES TO JAPAN AND WERE   DEEP INTO CONTRACTS AS REPRESENTATIVES OF MANY OF THE WORLDS LARGEST WATCH CONCERNS AS THEY SOUGHT FURTHER WESTERN TECHNOLOGY TO IMPROVE THEIR  CAPABILITIES TO PRODUCE MODERN WATCHES.

AND THE JAPANESE DID WHAY DO BEST. UNDER THE BANNER OF EXPORTS [IMPORTS TO JAPAN ] , THESE COMPANIES WOULD IN FACT, TEACH THE JAPANESE WOW TO MAKE WATCHES THAT, BY THE 1950'S, EVEN AFTER THEIR LOSSES IN WWII, WOULD COMPETE TOE TO TOE, WITH THE ENTIRE GLOBAL WATCH COMMUNITY.

1917

IN 1917, JAPAN HAD AGREEMENTS WITH THE MOST ADVANCED COMPANIES IN SWITZERLAND AND THE UNITED STATES. THE ABOVE ADD IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO THIS OFFER AND ITS HISTORY. UP UNTIL 1937 TO 1941, EVEN LONGINES WAS SUPPLYING WATCH MOVEMENTS THAT WERE BRANDED SEIKOSHA; AND A HOST OF THE MOST ADVANCED PRODUCERS EXPORTED UN-BRANDED  MOVEMENTS INCLUDING CHRONOGRAPHS FOR USE BY JAPANESE MILITARY ORGANIZATIONS, INCLUDING AIRFORCE AND NAVY.

MANY SEIKOSHA CIVILIAN AND MILITARY WATCHES CONTAINED WALTHAM, IMPERIAL, LONGINES, GALLET AND OTHER WESTERN MOVEMENTS. SOME WITH SWISS    BRANDING AND OTHERS BRANDED BY "SEIKOSHA"

SWISS TECHNOLOGY AND FINISHING TECHNIQUES CAN BE FOUND IN THE LIMITED ANTIQUE VINTAGE JAPANESE TIME PIECES THAT APPEAR TODAY, AS THIS SEIKOSHA SEIKO TIME PIECES WITH SWISS SILVER CASE, SWISS IMPERIAL MOVEMENT AND SEIKI DIAL DEMONSTRATES.

THE SEIKOSHA COMPANY

WITH HER EMPIRE ON THE BUILD -MOTIVATED BY A GROWING RIGHT WING IMPERIAL MILITARY  WING - THE MILITARY COUNTED ON IT'S GROWING TECHOLOGICAL COMPANIES TO PRODUCE THE MACHIMNES, SHIPS, VEHICALS AND BASIC EQUUIPMENT    NECESSARY FOR THIS EXPANSION. TIMERS, CLOCKS WATCHES AND GUAGES WERE HIGH ON THE LIST.

THE ONE AND ONLY POWERFUL SEIKOSHA COMPANY TRAVELED THE GLOBE ABSORBING INNOVATIONWOULD BECAME THE MAIN DRIVING FORCE FOR GUAGES, TIMERS, CHRONOGRAPHS, SHIPS INSTRUMENTS AND CLOCKS AND WATCHES.

WITH MILITARY MOVES AND ACTIONS IN KOREA, CHINA AND MANCHURIA, SEIKOSHA PRODUCED A HOST OF WATCHES WITH NAMES SUCH AS  "NATION" [ SIGNIFYING THE JAPANESE NATION] SEIKO [AS A MODEL LINE AND NOT NOT A BRAND YET],   DELIKATA AND OTHERS. THESE WATCHES WOULD BE WORN AND CHERISHED JAPANESE SOLDIERS.
