.THERE IS A 1944 MODEL DOXA WITH A BLACK DIAL OFFERED ON THE BAY. IT HAS A "D" SERIAL# "H" STAMPING ON THE CASE BACK --WHICH MEANS IT IS A DOXA ONCE UTILIZED BY THE GERMAN ARMY. IT ALSO HAS A RADIUM DIAL LIKE THE ONE BELOW. IT DOES NOT HAVE THE SWEEPS OR INTERNAL PROTECTION CASE THUS THE CHAPTER RING HAS NO NUMERAL MARKINGS..THIS 1951 MILITARY MODEL IS NOT ONLY IN MINT CONDITION, BUT HAS THE MILITARY ENGINEERING DOXA ADDED AFTER THE WWII MODELS ABOVE SAW ACTON. WITH THE EXTRA MOVEMENT PROTECTION, A RED SWEEP SECOND HAND WITH NUMERAL MARKED CHAPTER RING FOR TIMING AND AN ETA BASED DOXA EXTRA ENGINEERED MOVEMENT, WITH MORE JEWELS, IT IS ONE OF THE LAST WWII ERA STYLED RADIUM DIALED DOXA WATCHES.

THE DIAL WAS ORIGINALLY WHITE AND HAD EVIDENCE OF CRYSTAL
DAMAGE AND  NICOTINE STAINING. . THE RADIUM HAD LOST ITS
LUMINANCE AND WAS BROKEN UP.  HANDS WERE BURNT FROM
RADIUM RED FINISH ON SECOND HAND WAS RADIUM DAMAGED

I BEGIN WITH THE CASE

THE CASE IS STAINLESS STEEL

THE SCREW DOWN CASE BACK
IS STAINLESS STEEL

AND

THIS DOXA HAS AN
INTERIOR MILITARY STYLE
MOVEMENT
PROTECTION CASE

ALSO

MOST WATCH LUGS
IF THIS PERIOD
WERE 16 MM

THIS RARE DOXA
HAS 18 MM LUGS
WITH  *GO-THROUGHS
BOTH ADD TO ITS VALUE

18 MM OFFERED MORE TOP OF THE LINE
STRAP CHOICES LIKE THE 1940 +
CHRONOGRAPH STRAPS

*MADE IT EASY TO
REMOVE SPRING BARS
OR
TO UTILIZE STEEL PINS
WHICH MANY MILITARY WATCHES HAD
IN THE EVENT A SPRING BAR BROKE

RE-ILLUMINATED
WITH
AF-LUMINOVA
HIGH-PERFORMANCE
PHOSPHORESCENT PIGMENT

I INTRODUCE THE DIAL

THE MILITARY STANDARD
OUTLINED RAISED RADIUM DIAL
IS ORIGINAL IN THIS MODEL

NUMERALS ARE
BLACK OUTLINED
THEN
RAISED RADIUM FILLED
WITH
BEVELED EDGES
WITH
"LUMINOVA"
TAKING THE PLACE OF THE ORIGINAL RADIUM

AN OUTER
MARKED SECONDS CHAPTER RING
OFFERS THE ADVANTAGES OF TIMING
WITH
A RARE INTEGRAL
SWEEPS SECOND HAND
POWERED BY A DOXA
SWEEP SECONDS INTEGRATED MOVEMENT
[NOT A MILITARY HACKED SWEEP]

RE-ILLUMINATED
WITH
AF-LUMINOVA
HIGH-PERFORMANCE
PHOSPHORESCENT PIGMENT

IMG_3480.JPG (152068 bytes)

HANDS WERE
CLEANED
AND SILICONE
TO REMOVE
ALL RADIUM
AND
TREAT THE STEEL
THIS CLOSE UP SHOWS
WHERE THE RADIUM DAMAGED THE HANDS
IT IS NOW NEUTRALIZED

WE LEFT THE BLEED
AS IS TO OFFER A VINTAGE LOOK

WITH IN TWO TO THREE YEARS
THE DIAL WILL HAVE "BROKEN" IN
AND
THE TIME PIECE WILL LOOK
AGED
WITH AN OVERALL
MINT CONDITION DIAL

IN OTHER WORDS
IT WILL BEGIN TO LOOK OLD
BUT NOT WORN
NOR
WILL IT DISCOLOR

IMG_3479.JPG (131844 bytes)

NOTE THE UNUSUAL CROWN
I AM NOT A HUGE DOXA FAN
UNLESS IT IS CHRONOGRAPH
PUSH IN CROWN TIMER
OR A DIVE VERSION

BUT THE MILITARY WATCHES SIMPLY
BEAT THEM ALL
ESPECIALLY THOSE WITH THE DETAILS OF THIS
SIMPLE YET HIGHLY ADVANCED ENGINEERED
[FOR THE TIME PERIOD AND FOR TODAY]
MILITARY VERSION
FROM THE CROWN TO THE INTERNAL CASE
TO THE INTEGRATED SWEEPS SECONDS
AND HIGHLY DETAILED
DOXA MOVEMENT
