THIS IS A DESIGN LICENSED BACK IN THE DAY OF BRITISH EMPIRE WHEN PERMISSION WAS GIVEN TO
West End Watch Company [1800 ] To USE THE KINGS MARK [BROAD ARROW].

West End marketed Swiss and English watches to the Indian military until India became a inexpensive labor market. It was then that West End and many other  watch companies opened factories in India. In fact, at this time, London had - for centuries- a thriving watch and clock  industry. Watch Companies like Rolex and West End and many, many other companies were set up in London and other cities. In fact the "bumper" , the first automatic watch movement, was created and built in England. But, with unlimited cheap labor, companies either moved their factories to India, or built them in India. India began using EBAUCHES from Switzerland, and then they copied movements --like Japan did from 1905 to 1941.

JAWAN RECEIVED SPECIFIC APPROVAL TO USE THE BROAD ARROW AND HMT.

THIS WIDE CUFF MILITARY STYLE STRAP HONORS THE

9th Army Air Force 1942
Active 1942–1945 Country United States Branch
United States Army Air Forces Fighter Command and Control
The IX Fighter Command was a United States Army Air Forces formation. Its last assignment was with the Ninth Air Force, based at Erlangen, Germany. It was the primary tactical fighter air arm of Ninth Air Force in the Western Desert Campaign in North Africa during 1942-1943. Reassigned to England, it became the dominant tactical air force over the skies of Western Europe during the 1944 Battle of Normandy and the Western Allied invasion of Germany in 1945.

North Africa

In Egypt during January 1943, IX Fighter Command became the control organization for Ninth Air Force fighter units assigned to the Western Desert Campaign (Libya and Tunisia).Although wings were officially subordinate to the command, combat groups were attached to the Desert Air Force, which included squadrons of the Royal Air Force, Royal Australian Air Force and South African Air Force

Western Europe

During the winter of 1943/44 IX Fighter Command expanded at an extraordinary rate so that by the end of May 1944, its complement ran to 45 flying groups operating some 5,000 aircraft. Initial missions from England consisted of fighter sweeps over troop concentrations and attacks on enemy positions and airfields, primarily on German Fifteenth Army units in the Pas-de-Calais region of France as well as around Normandy and Cotentin Peninsula. On D-Day IX Fighter Command units carried out massive air attacks on German forces in Normandy area with P-51 Mustang and P-47 Thunderbolt fighter-bombers. Air cover during the morning amphibious assault by Allied forces on the beaches of France was flown by P-38 Lightnings.

Captain Edwin O. Fisher 7 aerial victories; 3 V-1 Flying Bombs; 25 enemy vehicles and 5 locomotives

With the beaches secure, groups began deploying to France on June 16, 1944, ten days after the Normandy invasion by moving P-47 Thunderbolts to a beach-head landing strip. During the Battle of Normandy, its tactical air units then provided the air power for the Allied break-out from the Normandy beachhead in the summer of 1944 during the Battle of Cherbourg, Caen, and the ultimate breakout from the beachhead, Operation Cobra.

By early August most IX Fighter Command groups were transferred to bases in France and assigned to the U. S. Twelfth Army Group. Command then reorganized, with units transferred to three Tactical Air Commands and which directly supported Army ground units, along with an air defense command to defend Allied-controlled areas.

Jawan

Jawan refers to: A junior soldier (infantryman) in South Asia, in INDIA this term covers all ranks below that of a Commissioned Officer. :WHILE MOST JAWAN WATCHES ARE INEXPENSIVE , THE FACTS ARE YOU CAN PAY FROM 20 BUCKS TO 375.00 BUCKS FOR ONE.

THE JAWAN MILITARY WATCH HAD A BROAD ARROW   THAT HAD ALONG THIN "NECK" WITH THE STANDARD BROAD ARROW MOUNTED ON TOP. AND, LIKE MANY BRITISH MILITARY WATCHES, MANY HAD THE NORMAL THREE LEG BROAD ARROW UNDER THE 12 MARKER/NUMBER; THEN SOME --LIKE THIS ONE-- WERE TRULY FANTASTIC BECAUSE THEY HAD/HAVE THE ADDITIONAL HMT ON THE DIAL.

The West End Watch Company began there journey in 1886 from "The West End", a district of the center of London. The market that West End catered to was the British controlled Mid-East and India. By 1914, West End was offering solid, well made and cased Trench and Pocket Watches. Specializing in the Indian Military and Civil Services, West End, with acceptance of the British   Military, produced Trench Watches that were marked C.S.for the Civil Service in India and C-tailed broad arrow-S for Indian Military personal under British control.

The line-of-sight on the casing is turned by 45 against the strap so as to allow for taking a bearing with extended arm.
