 In 1928, Otto Graef, a German watchmaker and owner of MIMO (an International Maker of Gold Watches) bought out GIRARD - PERREGAUX.     Constant Girard was far ahead of his time [no pun intended] when he developed the wristwatch as early as 1880; by 1930, sales of wristwatches exceeded the sales of pocket watches for the first time

 After World War II Otto Graef demanded that all service-issue watches given to German Military Men and those that had not left the factory were to be destroyed so they would not flood the commercial market.

THE AS-1130 BECAME KNOWN AS THE "GERMAN ARMY MOVEMENT" CAN BE DISCOVERED FAST. YOU SEE AFTER WWI, THE ALLIES PLACED SUCH HARSH REPARATIONS ON GERMANY THAT EVEN THE US THOUGHT IT HORRIBLE-- AND THAT IT WOULD LEAD TO ANOTHER WAR.

THE GERMANS, WHEN THEY BEGAN TO RE-ARM, DID SO "UNDER THE TABLE. THE FIRST WATCHES ORDERED HAD TO BE GOOD YET INEXPENSIVE. THEY HAD TO ENDURE. HENCE THE AS-1130 WAS BORN WITH 7 AND 9 JEWELS. IT WOULD POWER NEARLY HALF OF ALL WATCHES INVESTED IN BY THE Reichswehr German Army OR Wehrmacht. \

DAMAGE OR FINISH WEAR AND THE OFFER USES THE WORD "PATINA" IN
THE DESCRIPTION OF THE DIAL. WELL, BELOW IS WHAT A PATINA LOOKS LIKE
PATINA MEANS THE DIAL FINISH HAS WORN FROM ULTRA VIOLET SUN RAYS
HEAT- COLD- TIME- ETC. THE DIAL HAS AGED OR COLOR CHANGED THE
FINISH, ENAMEL PAINT OR VARNISH OR LACQUER  FINISH COATING ETC
CHANGED COLOR IS DARKER LIGHTER WHAT EVER BUT IS USUALLY SMOOTH
USUALLY ONE COLOR SOMETIMES MORE THAN ONE COLOR, BUT WHAT EVER
COLOR OT LOOK IT IS AGREEABLE. THIS MIMO IS A 1936 WITH WHAT WAS A WHITE
DIAL THAT YELLOWED FROM A LACQUER FINISH. THERE IS A SMALL NICK BY THE 9
LUME MARKER. NOTE THE NUMBER WERE BLACK OUTLINED WITH RADIUM CENTERS -DEPLETED [DEAD] RADIUM NOW -- A BLACK BUTLERS RING THAT LIGHTENED SOME
THE LOWER PART OF DIAL/BUTLER RING HAD SLIGHTLY MORE PATINA FLUSHING REASON? FOR SOME REASON IT RECEIVED SLIGHTLY MORE LIGHT. ABOVE ARE THREE OF THE 5 PROUD MIMO/ GP MOVEMENTS USED DURING AND IN PRE AND POST WWII MIMO MONITOR MILITARY AND PRIVATE PURCHASED WATCHES FROM 1930 THROUGH 1955. NOTE THERE WERE THE 7 TO 17 JEWEL MODELS. A 15 JEWEL MODEL WAS ADDED IN 1941 FOR THE BRITISH MILITARY TO MEET NEW 1938/1940 REQUIREMENTS. IN 1943/45 A 17 JEWEL WAS ADDED FOR US REQUESTS. THE HIGHEST COUNT WAS AN 1130 WITH 17 + WAS IN 1955. ALL WERE TECHNICALLY GIRARD PERREGAUX BRANDS.

Otto Graef, a watchmaker of German origin and owner of the brand MIMO (Manufacture Internationale de Montres Or, the international manufacture of gold watches) took over the shareholding in Girard-Perregaux. By 1928 the brand of Girard-Perregaux was owned by the Graef Group, under German born Otto Graef, who produced and distributed watches under the brand of MIMO. For Graef, the US became an important market and according to documents by US suppliers, the three sons of Otto Graef were busy distributing the then rather unknown MIMO watches

NOTE IT ALSO WAS A SUB SECONDS WRIST WATCH BOASTING SIMILAR FEATURES OF THE MIMO MONITOR, YET, FOR ALL INTENTS AND PURPOSES, THE MIMO WAS BEING SOLD TO THE GERMANS IN SILENCE AS IT HAD BEEN SINCE 1938.

THIS IS NOT, AND NEVER WAS, A GOLD DIAL. IT WAS A BLACK OUTLINED, RADIUM FILLED NUMERATED DIAL WITH MILITARY LEAF HANDS ALSO FILLED TO CAPACITY WITH THE MOST DENSE RADIUM THAT WAS AVAILABLE FOR USE IN WATCHES.

THIS RADIUM WOULD, OVER 25 YEARS, LONG THE 24 HOUR GLOW CEASED ITS VISUAL ACTION, TURN A PRISTINE THREE PART WHITE PAINT DIAL IN TO THIS BEAUTIFUL GOLDEN PATINA COLOR.

NOW, I SEE MANY NEWBIES RANT ABOUT THE NICE PATINA OF THEIR FIND ONLY TO DISCOVER IT IS WEAR. OR WATER OR LIGHT DAMAGE. GOOGLE, "GOLDSMITHWORKS RESTORE DIAL" , WHEN THE RETURNS POP, SELECT "IMAGES " TOP LEFT.  AND YOU WILL SEE THAT I RESTORE 80% OF ALL DIALS. FACT IS MOST NEED IT. BUT NOT THIS ONE...
