THE 10AKCSH IS THE BULOVA MOVEMENT ORIGINATING IN THE BULOVA VERSION OF THE WWII A-11 HACKING AVIATION WATCH [STOPS WHEN CROWN PULLED]. THE BULOVA A-11 AVIATION WATCH HAD A BLACK DIAL. WHITE 1 THRU 12 NUMERALS, A SWEEPS SECONDS OUTER CHAPTER MARKED WITH NUMERALS AT THE EVERY TEN SECONDS. THE WWII A-11 AVIATION WATCH WAS NOT ILLUMINATED: NO RADIUM.

AS THIS ONE HAS.................

DURING WWII, THE US MILITARY SEEMED TO FROWN ON   ILLUMINATED WATCHES/TIMERS ON AIRCRAFT. FEELING THAT THE INTENSELY ILLUMINATING DIALS WOULD INTERFERE WITH READING ASSUAGES..

YET THERE WERE ILLUMINATED WATCHES OWNED BY PILOTS, NAVIGATORS AND CREW MEMBERS WITH THE 24/7 INTENSELY GLOWING RADIUM

MODERN ILLUMINATION REQUIRES LIGHT SOURCE TO CHARGE THE COMPOUND. A  FACT OF HISTORY IN WWII GERMANY:.

"IRON COFFINS" IS PERHAPS THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE AND FULLY DETAILED HISTORY OF THE GERMAN NAVY, HER SUBS, CREWS AND ALL ASPECTS OF OPERATIONS BEFORE, DURING AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER WWII. A REVELATION  OF FIRST PERSON HISTORY BY THE HIGHEST RANKING AND MOST EXPERIENCED GERMAN SUB COMMANDER WHO TELLS THE HISTORY OF BEING A PART OF THE GERMAN CORE BEFORE AND UP TO AND AFTER THE GERMAN NAVY SURRENDERED :

[NOT VERBATIM]

WATCHES AND TIMERS EXISTED ON BOARD OUR SUBS. EACH TIMER AND/OR WATCH WAS COATED WITH A PHOSPHOROUS COMPOUND WHICH WE WOULD CHARGE AT THE ON-BOARD FLUORESCENT CHARGING STATION

THERE WERE MANY TIMERS USED FOR EVERYTHING FROM TORPEDO ATTACK AS WELL AS DEPTH CHARGE ATTACKS ON THE SUB. ADDITIONALLY TIMERS WERE UTILIZED FOR NAVIGATION AND OTHER TASKS,.

HE RECALLS DURING A SEVERE ATTACK BY DEPTH CHARGES:

"ALL YOU COULD HEAR WAS THE EXPLODING CHARGES AND THE CONSTANT TICKING OF THE TIMERS LIKE CRICKETS TICKING AWAY".

*******************************

FOR OTHER AREAS OF THE BATTLE FIELD, BULOVA SUPPLIED THE NON AVIATION RADIUM  VERSION WITH THE 10AKCSH-R .  IN FACT, SO MUCH RADIUM WAS UTILIZED THAT MOST OF THOSE DISCOVERED TODAY HAVE SEVERELY DAMAGED DIALS AND HANDS!

BY THE 1950'S, THE KOREAN WAR, AND VIETNAM WAR, THE US GOV REQUESTED THE A-17 AND THEN SEVERAL CONTRACTS FOR NAM..

--WE HAVE MOST CONTRACTS ON OUR VARIOUS  WEBSITES WHERE YOU CAN READ THEM IN THEIR ENTIRETY. -

THE 10AKCSH WAS DROPPED AND THE 10BNCH ADDED--HARD TO DISCOVER WHICH WAS WHICH-- IN ADDITION, A 24HR INNER CHAPTER AND ILLUMINATED HANDS, AND IN SOME, DEPENDING ON DATE, WAR, AND CONTRACT, NUMBERS OR SINGULAR NUMBER, BECAME PART OF THE FACTORY ISSUE.

DURING THE VIETNAM WAR, THERE WERE TWO SERIES THAT CONFORMED TO 3 CONTRACTS FOR HACKING WATCHES.

WWII SPECIAL OPPS AIRBORNE

THE A-11 WAS ISSUED TO OTHER GROUPS INCLUDING AIRBORNE UNITS. BOTH THE "R" VERSION AND THE NON-R VERSION.

THE 10BNCH FOR KOREA AND VIETNAM BEGAN WITH THE WWII 10AKCSH. THOUGH THE DIALS WOULD HAVE A 24HR CHAPTER ADDED AND WERE ALL ILLUMINATED TO SOME DEGREE.

THIS 10AKCSH MOVEMENT REMAINED IN HEAD TO HEAD IN COMPETITION WITH WWII ELGIN-- AND THE WALTHAM, THOUGH THE WALTHAM UTILIZED ADDITIONAL COMPONENTS THAT REQUIRED ADDITIONAL MAINTENANCE TO INSURE HACKING ON THERE 6.0 SERIES.

THE CASE IS COMPLETE WITH SEALS. INCLUDING THE CRYSTAL SEAL. IT IS AN ORIGINAL; SOME-WHAT-OLD LOOKING. IT IS USUALLY THE FIRST ITEM TO "GET LOST" OVER TIME BECAUSE MOST EXPERTS FORGET THESE HAD ONE.

OVER 200 PAGES ON ALL THE WWII WATCHES

IMG_0054.JPG (27466 bytes)

THIS HACKING A-11 IS ONE OF SEVERAL RUNS THAT WERE MADE IN STEEL OR FIRST CLASS HEAVY CHROME. IT IS LARGER BY A FEW MM -- WHICH IS A LOT BY W.W.II STANDARDS-- AND HAS SUBSTANTIAL SEALED LUGS. I HAVE RESTORED A HUNDRED OF THESE IN THE LAST 8 TO 9 YEARS. MANY HAD CLEAR CASE BACKS WITH PERSONAL ENGRAVINGS. IN FACT THE GREEN BERET BOX I BUILT 7 YEARS AGO SPORTED A A-11 LIKE THAT ABOVE FROM 1944. IT WAS ENGRAVED 1944-1953-1964. W.W.II, KOREA AND VIETNAM!

IMG_0057.JPG (26696 bytes)

NOW, IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT US, YOU KNOW I ALLOW YOU TO CHOOSE STRAPS, BANDS BRACELETS, VINTAGE, PREOWNED, NEW. I DISCOUNT THE AMOUNT OF THOSE INSTALLED AGAINST HIGHER PRICED STRAPS ET AL. OR TRADE OUT. I KEPT THIS ONE DUE TO THE FACT IT IS ORIGINAL.

IMG_0061.JPG (29692 bytes)

I DID NOT ILLUMINATE OR TOUCH THE DIAL OUTSIDE OF REMOVING AND REPLACING FOR THE OVERHAUL. CONTRARY TO THE ILLUMINATION CRAZE OF THE EARLY 20TH CENTURY, THESE WERE RARELY ILLUMINATED. ESPECIALLY FOR THE COCKPIT, EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS AN "R" VERSION THAT WAS ILLUMINATED.

IMG_0063.JPG (30482 bytes)

THE A-11 WAS HIGHLY PRIZED BY THE AIRBORNE DIVISIONS. DURABLE. SOLID. MADE TO LAST-- WITH A LARGE DEPARTMENT THAT HANDLED REPAIRS, THE HACKING A-11 WAS INDISPENSABLE TO SPECIAL OPPS, AND AIRBORNE UNITS THAT RELIED ON THE WATCH FOR NOT SIMPLY JUMPS, BUT OPERATIONS IN THE FIELD

IMG_0064.JPG (28546 bytes)

THE ORIGINAL CROWN LOOKS NEAR NEW. YET WE KNOW FROM THE OVERHAUL THIS BABY WAS UTILIZED FOR 7 DECADES!PLY JUMPS, BUT OPERATIONS IN THE FIELD

IMG_0063.JPG (30482 bytes)

YES, THIS IS THE REAL DEAL. MILLIONS WERE MADE. MANY SURVIVED. YOU CAN FIND THEM ALL THE TIME, EXCEPTING THAT THE RARE MODELS, THE SIGNED MODELS THIS WITH A HISTORY, EVEN IF IT IS NOT REVEALED TO IT'S FARTHEST BEGINNINGS ARE VALUED. THEN THE OVERHAUL, JUST BECAUSE ONE IS RUNNING MEANS LITTLE. SERVICE AND OVERHAUL ARE IMPORTANT.

IMG_0051.JPG (23872 bytes)

I COULD HAVE SOLD THIS RARE BEAUTY AS IT WAS. BUT SPENT 90.00 PLUS TO REPLACE PARTS THAT WOULD HAVE LASTED A YEAR. BECAUSE IT HAS TO BE RIGHT...

IMG_0050.JPG (23680 bytes)

THE ART OF THIS STUNNING BULOVA IS ITS SIMPLICITY OF DESIGN.

IMG_0048.JPG (29920 bytes)

I WAS AT THE VA LAST MONTH. HAD 4 APPOINTMENTS. WHEN YOU GO TO THE VA YOU REALIZE HOW MANY MEN AND WOMAN SERVED. YOU SEE MANY VETS LIKE MYSELF BUT HURTING NOT IN BODY BUT IN MIND. IT MAKES ME PROUD -- NOT TO HAVE SERVED, BUT TO FIND TIME PIECES LIKE THIS ONE WAITING TO REJOIN THE WORLD AND OFFER YOU WHAT IT OFFERED IT'S ORIGINAL OWNER.

IMG_0047.JPG (31921 bytes)

NG NOT IN BODY BUT IN MIND. IT MAKES ME PROUD -- NOT TO HAVE SERVED, BUT TO FIND TIME PIECES LIKE THIS

IMG_0042.JPG (33872 bytes)

THIS WATCH IS A W.W.II FIND. I SEARCHED RECORDS ON THE US GOV SITE. I EVEN USED MY VA CARD TO TRY AND DISCOVER WHO THIS PRIVATE WAS. WITH AIRBORNE AND 101ST HE HAD TO HAVE ADVANCED IN RANK.

IMG_0058.JPG (28067 bytes)

SO THE NAME ENGRAVED DOE NOT DATE THIS WATCH. THE WATCH DATES THE NAME.
